Windows VISTA is coming soon!

Yes the looooooong awaited next version of Windows is slowly but surely coming; Microsoft released the second beta to its developer network in mid February to test all its new features and report any bugs back to them. Microsoft says that this version is pretty much the feature-complete and comes complete with what is expected to be in the final release. Of course, some features are still extremely buggy, or have been disabled, but the meat of the product is there. Some of the features Microsoft is touting are: Updated Security features - touted as making this version of windows the safest and most secure ever (we'll see about that one once its released!)

Internet Explorer 7 - Upgraded with new features such as tabbed browsing, anti-phishing technology, and inline search (all already available on Firefox!)

Better integrated search - gone are the days of the dog searching for your files.now your files are organized so you can search by meta information.

Sidebar and Gadgets - if you have ever used the Konfabulator tool or are familiar with Mac's Dashboard then you know what i'm talking about...Click to Continue

File this under S for STUPID!!!

Ahh, the usual scare of cancer and cellphones has now spread over to the WiFi arena - According to CNN, a small Canadian university has ruled out campus-wide wireless Internet access because its president fears the system's electromagnetic forces could pose a risk to students' health. My question is this; what proof has been provided that Wifi signals could potentially pose a risk to student's health? There have only been preliminary studies, and none of them have proven, without a doubt, that the risk is any larger than that of just breathing in air. It's just strange that they still allow the use of cellphones, laptops, and electricity on their campus, as these also "MAY" cause cancer.hmm lets see where this leads to. Let's hope not more universities and businesses follow this lead.On the other hand...Click to Continue

Happy 20th Birthday PC virus!

This month sees the 20th birthday of the PC computer virus – Brain; Brain was a boot sector virus that first emerged in January 1986, propogated via floppy disk and was relatively innocuous in contrast to modern computer afflictions. Brain was not the first computer virus – that was written by University of Southern California PhD student Fred Cohen for a Vax mini computer, with Cohen presenting his findings to a security seminar in November, 1983. Brain was the first virus written for a Personal Computer and it targeted the newly released IBM PC. As the internet has networked the world, file sharing and hence computer viruses have become commonplace with rapid propogation that can often cause havoc within hours. Such viruses have become modern scourges, with their names known to millions: Melissa, the LoveBug, Sobig, and Code Red. The world’s first mobile phone virus was detected in June 2004 – (a “worm” known as Cabir which infects Symbian OS phones and devices) and as home networks proliferate, it is quite possible that your house will one day be infected...Click to Continue

Full fledged Web on Any Cellphone!

Its Called Opera Mini. It runs on most java enabled cellphones, and best of all its FREE!!
Opera Software, the Norwegian company that created the sleek Opera web browser back in the mid 1990s, has released the Opera Mini browser for mobile phones and PDAs. The browser was tested among an estimated 1 million users in Europe in the fall of 2005 and is now available worldwide as a free download.

Opera Mini runs on any phone with Java mobile (J2ME) compatibility and an internet connection. It seems that Opera Mini is designed to run on not only the newest handhelds, but also on lower-end and mid-range phones, some of which are four years old. There's no support for BREW, but any modern phone that can handle Java apps should be able to install and use the browser...Click to Continue

13 Reasons to Switch to Firefox!

1. You'll only see porn when you want to.
Sick of seeing pornographic pop-ups all over your computer while you're helping your daughter with a research project? Since Firefox blocks pop-ups, you won't get tons of porn in your face when you're least expecting it. On the flip side, since Firefox stops spyware from taking over your computer, there will be nothing to slow you down when you go and look for porn.

2. Your kids will only see porn when they want to...Click to Continue

A North Carolina Thanksgiving

Ahh, North Carolina. What a beautiful state you are! North Carolina is definitely a great spot to spend Thanksgiving, not only do you get great scenery, but you also get great and hospitable people, good food, and lots to do. Four days, in my opinion, is not enough to see what this great state has to offer. Here is a quick itinerary of what four friends and I did for our Thanksgiving weekend.

X-Box Launched tuesday!

Most have skipped work and school to be here and won't be leaving the house during the next few days; others will go home disappointed, but Microsoft's next-generation video game console, the Xbox 360, launched early Tuesday morning across the United States. By all accounts, snagging one of the $400 consoles in time for Christmas will be harder than getting a Tickle Me Elmo in 1996, even at 20 times the price.

That's why there were lines stretching out from the shuttered entrances of thousands of electronics stores and discount retailers late Monday and early Tuesday. Those who had to have the latest console first braved the weather, the boredom and the gloom of night to be there when the doors opened.

Some stores sold the console on the first minute of Tuesday, including discount electronics retailer Best Buy, which held midnight openings at a dozen of its stores. The Best Buy in downtown San Francisco was not one of them, but there were two dozen gamers lined up anyway by 9:30 p...Click to Continue

New Photo Galleries are up

Well i just got back from my vacation to costa rica and have been pretty busy putting up all my pictures to show everyone. I figured, "why not update and open up my entire photo galleries" for friends and strangers alike. I love to keep memories of my exciting times and always look back at these pictures and remember them with reflection of what i have done in the past. Some are good some are bad, but all in all, i beleive that one should never forget what it is they have already done in their life. The best way to do that is capture those moments on film and preserve them for future visits. I would like to get comments about any of my pictures, so just post them under this blog and i will be happy to recieve them and respond...Click to Continue

Top 10 Scariest Movies of all time

In honor of halloween being almost here i have decided to list my 10 all time scariest movies; movies that where so scary to me(at least at the time when i watched them) that they have left mentally unstable thoughts in my head. These are the movies that after they finished i had to turn on all the lights in the house and hide under my covers.you may not agree with my choices, but hey you can tell me why
So here we go:
10) The Fly - Jeff Goldblum already looks scary in real life, but when he transforms into SuperFly, it not only looks gross, but i almost lost my own lunch after he throws up all over his food. Gross, scary and just plain wrong!
09)The Thing - What's worse than freezing your ass off in Antarctica? Freezing your ass off while some alien thing that masquerades around as in dog and human form is trying to kill you! You don't know if your best friend has already been assimilated and he is trying to kill you. yikes
08) The Shining - Yes this movie is downright scary, ghosts, a scary hotel, and a mad jack nicholson trying to kill his family, and no one around to help. The only remake i enjoyed more than this one was the Simpson's the "Shinning"" ...Click to Continue

Halloween Party

It's that time of year again, where grown men and women dress up in crazy costumes and to go out and relieve their childhood, but instead of trick or treating, most people will attend halloween parties, or hand out treats to the neighborhood children.
This year, my friends may (or may not, you never know with them) throw a haloween party. If they do, i will be attending, howver i havent had the chance yet to pick out any killer kostumes. whoever reads this, give me some good ideas as to what costumes are hot this year and what costumes are not. Shout out by hitting the comments link, or by emailing me at my address...Click to Continue

Welcome to the new and improved 180-media.com

Hi and welcome to version 2.0 of 180-media.com. After almost three years of not really updating my old layout and design, I thought it would be time to put my newly learned skills I have been using and redesign this entire site. Since I'm currently working in a company that requires lots of back-end programming via php, I figured I would use this to my advantage and code the entire site with php, and a mysql database back end, as well as use pure CSS to design the layout of this site. It has been mostly successfull, however there are still a few areas that i had to use tables to get the design to line up and display all the contents correctly...Click to Continue
