Yahoo! founders Jerry Yang and David Filo selected the name because they considered themselves yahoos. The name Yahoo! is an acronym for "Yet Another Hierarchical Officious Oracle," but Filo and Yang insist they selected the name because they liked the general definition of a yahoo: "rude, unsophisticated, uncouth...Click to Continue |

Wow, something new from Microsoft thats actually worth talking about. Photosynth is a software technology preview from Microsoft Live Labs and the University of Washington that analyzes digital photographs to build a three-dimensional model of a photographed object. Pattern recognition components compare portions of images to create points, which are then compared to convert the image into a model. Currently, users can view models built by Microsoft or BBC, but not create their own models.
The program works by analyzing multiple photographs taken of the same area. Each photograph is processed by noting specific features, like the corner of a window frame or a door handle...Click to Continue |

Google, the powerhouse of the internet search, has a new ace up its sleeve, although not really an official announcement, a powerpoint slide not supposed to be in one of their investor presentations made it to the web for a short period of time, and a few smart bloggers quickly got posted it on their sites. What am i talking about you may ask? Well that particular slide i am referring to is Google's next big ace up their sleeve. It's tentatively called GDrive and is meant as an online hard disk for users to store all their information, that will be accessible anywhere there is an internet connection. Kind of like their GMail service, but for ALL your files instead of just email. The notes mentioned Google's desire to host all user data such as files, emails, bookmarks and pictures on its servers rather than the user saving the information on their computers. Not much else is yet known about this service, nor how far along they are in this endeavor, but these things do sound like a great way to be able to access your data...Click to Continue
