I don't need no stinkin' directions - A quick review of the Garmin Nuvi 350
Posted on June 26, 2007

The Garmin Nuvi 350 GPS is by far the best thing that I have got in the last 2 years. Before i received the Nuvi, I used to go everywhere except for the places I was meant to go to. Since I'm a guy i never want to ask for directions and think i can get where i need to go by following the position of the sun. It never got me anywhere good. So i finally broke down and asked for a new Garmin Nuvi 350 for my B-Day. And lo and behold i got my wish! Using the Garmin Nuvi 350 GPS now for about a week it has always gotten me to an appointment on time. That alone has saved me the cost of buying the device by far.

The Garmin Nuvi 350 GPS is small, really small. It measures 3.87 x 2.91 x 0.87 inches and it weighs in at 0.51 ounces.

The screen is a 3,5" 320 x 240 color touch screen display and it is very bright and surprisingly clear screen.

The user-interface is fast and without bugs (at least I haven't found any yet). The interface is intuitive and you don't even have to read the manual to get this little wonder up and running.

Another great feature is that it gives directions with street names, i.e. instead of 'turn right in 1.2 miles' it says 'in 1.2 miles turn right on LeJeune' in a nice british accent (you have about 10 different voices and languages to choose from. Really good and really cool.

You can import custom points of interest that other people have compiled. For example, people can compile speed traps or police camera locations and share that file. Load that into your Nuvi and you'll be alerted before you head into a trap. This is of course also pretty cool when it comes to geocaching. ( from wikipedia: Geocaching is an outdoor treasure-hunting game in which the participants use a Global Positioning System (GPS) receiver or other navigational techniques to hide and seek containers (called "geocaches" or "caches") anywhere in the world.)

It also features a mp3-player and it has SD-slots.

Garmin Nuvi 350 GPS has the new SiRF chipset which makes it sensitive and accurate. It even works indoors.

We have also used the Garmin Nuvi 350 GPS on our vacation in Europe and it took us to all the places we wanted to go...even in Paris!

If you are going to buy one electronic device this year make sure that it is the Garmin Nuvi 350 GPS

I love this thing and its not bad priced either, going between $300 and $400. Still cheaper then the new iPhone about to drop!
